Since my job has me jumping all over the country at least four or five days every single week of the year (with only a handful of breaks in between), you can imagine that it’s a bit of a challenge for me to strike of any long-term relationships – or even drum up a bit of “one night stand” activity, for that matter.
Being a reasonably attractive, well-off, and young guy with a healthy sex drive, this is a major, major issue.
After talking (okay, complaining) about the situation to my buddies, they recommended that I give and escort a try the next time that I touched down in a new city. I wasn’t exactly jacked up about the potential at first, mostly because I wasn’t cool with paying for it – or at least I thought I wasn’t – but the alternative of going without AGAIN definitely wasn’t up my alley, either.
I bailed on the idea the next time that I was dispatched to Chicago, but when I bounced over to New York City right after that I decided that I’d at least give it a try. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?
Well, Mr. Murphy of Murphy’s Law must have been paying attention when I dropped that bomb.
After touching down in the city, checking into my hotel, and grabbing a quick bite to eat, I decided to fire up my phone and give Backpage a look.
I never expected to find quite as many girls that were up for a good time as are listed on Backpage, and all of a sudden I was feeling more and more game by the minute. I browsed around for a little while until I found someone that really hit all of my hot buttons, and after shooting them a quick message we arranged to meet up the next night.
What a mistake that ended up being.
Number one, the girl that arrived at my hotel door was absolutely nothing like I expected – and looked nothing like her pictures. Because I was feeling a little bit desperate and not a little bit lonely I decided to roll with it, at least until she dropped the bombshell on me that the “services” I had hired out for would cost twice as much as anticipated.
I know a good old-fashioned shakedown when I see one, and decided to bail completely. I don’t know if I’m going to be visiting Backpage again anytime soon.
